Fire and Finals

And let the games begin! It was graduation week for the Fire Academy and it was full of fun events. On Monday family and friends were invited to watch the firefighters do some drills. They lit things on fire and saved mannequins from burning cars and buildings. Max is on the far right.
It was pretty cool seeing them put out a real fire...
(Max is the one carrying a ladder up the ladder.)

Then they cut a hole in the roof.

Then they lit a car on fire.

that's my cute husband

Then on wednesday the day class and evening class had a little competition. They competed in things like push ups, races for putting on their gear, pulling big tires, and sumo wrestling. I got a good video of Max doing about a billion pull ups but I'll just keep that for my own enjoyment. Mmmm
Then later wednesday evening they had their graduation ceremony and recieved all their fire fighter certifications. This was their class plaque they made.

Then we tried to take cool pictures on the fire engines.
buh

And that's that! Max is a certified firefighter. And he is amazing!

Happy Holidays!!

So this post has been in the works for several weeks now! I finally finished my final project and I wanted to take a break before a took a stab at studying for my finals.
So, I think this last Thanksgiving was one of my favorites. I got to spend 6 days straight with my amazing husband. It was wonderful, we had just finished some busy and stressful weeks at school and a long cozy break was very welcome. We started our break with an early bird trip to the movie theater to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!! And let me tell you...we weren't disappointed! We went to the gym a couple times and swam and ran. I love working out with Max, his very motivating and a patient trainer!
We made a delicious meal just for two, actually we made enough for a small army.
We ate a bunch and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
After dinner we decided we needed to move our bodies a little bit before eating our homemade apple pie. so we put up Christmas lights. We are really proud of our simple decorations. We feel so festive.
I don't really remember why he's dressed up here. ??
On Black Friday we got more Christmas lights and decorated a little more

At the end of the break we had a little blizzard. Here's my husband working hard on a Sunday morning to clear our driveway.

We also got a fake Christmas tree on black Friday. We got a steal of a deal. I know it's somewhat blasphemous for two born and raised Oregonians to have a fake tree but we just figured we will use it until we finish our college years then when we're back in Oregon we will get a real one. Besides, we're not even going to be here for Christmas.

Happy Holidays!

Fire!!

Here's a post that goes out to my amazing hardworking husband. This last Friday he had a series of different types of strenuous tests to get state certified as a firefighter. And drumroll please....HE PASSED!! He worked really hard to get to this point and I am so proud of him. Every Monday Wednesday, and Friday Max comes home from the Fire Academy drenched in sweat from nearly 12 hours of exhausting work and training. His body is constantly sore and tired and he can't stay up passed 9pm on Friday nights anymore. Needless to say he has put all his effort into succeeding and rising to the top of his class. He has had some very sleepless nights studying all the skills that he needs to know. Oftentimes the difference between an alive and dead firefighter is knowledge of the skills and safety procedures, so he is absorbing every bit of training he can. I am so proud of all his hard work

Max's Graduation from the Fire Academy will be held on December 15, 2010 in Provo Utah. He would love for anyone who is able to attend, to come. They will be doing some drills (lighting stuff on fire). So it should be really exciting! Call if you can come and we will give you more details.

Halloween Extravaganza

Well, For Halloween we were granted a complimentary photo shoot with our extremely talented and dear friend Anna Pew-Harrison. (She's the superstar who took our wedding pictures as seen above). She had the brilliant idea of doing a Halloween photo shoot and without even asking what we were going to be, she invited us to come along...
Her Pictures turned out great...and the costumes were awesome...

Anna and Buck

The gorgeous Leah being her Peacock self!
Mandy the Lion about to get her meal.
I'm pretty sure she should be a super model. Then there comes the naked blue man..Oh wait..that's my Avatarian husband...

then I attempted to be an avatar too. However I opted for more clothes...I ended up being the frumpy avatar.
Things got Ugly...

...and steamy
...yet awkward.

Mid photo-shoot he turned into a caveman

We then got hungry so we headed to Denny's. They let him in Loin cloth and all.

My Birthday...

...was nearly a month ago however I will write about it anyway. It started with homemade I heart you pancakes in bed!! Delicious! Most of the day was spent watching General Conference from the comfort of our living room.
Then we had a present opening party, Max spoiled me with house stuff which thrills me to no end. We got matching hot cocoa mugs...getting ready for the Winter!
Then, it was somehow arranged without my knowing for a couple of friends to come over. It started with a surprise accordian greeting from leah at my doorstep!

Then Anna and Buck showed up with surprise dessert and Sparklers.

Max got his turn pumping out a tune.
Maybe I'm lame but I'm so excited about these cannisters. I wanted them real bad for my birthday!
Later in the evening I didn't have my camera but Max left for the Priesthood session of general conference and I went on a shopping date with Leah. It was successful!
Then when the men were done with Priesthood we went and ate at Chiles! Yum!
Oh and then we went to the hot springs with some friends.
When we were done it was the wee hours of the morning so we called it a night! It was a good birthday.
