January 2022 Photo Dump

Welcome to 2022
8 months late

We had a late New Years celebration since Max worked on New Years Eve. (Love that holiday pay, and the boys didn't really know the difference since we celebrate at home anyway)

Later in the week, Max and I had a fireside date and reflected on our year and made goals for the future. 2021 was a big year for us and many of our long term goals had been accomplished or are on the right track and it was exciting to take the time to be grateful for all the wonderful happenings.

We live on the same street as the church and we walk most days, unless it's pouring, or we're really late. It helps get some fresh air and wiggles out before they are sitting for awhile.

Back to schooling. We used the Christmas candy to do a final review for our Space unit.

This kid cracks me up. And it often makes me happy that he's not forced to sit "normal" in a classroom.

More bathroom progress. There's a subfloor and a shower pan.

Family costco trip. We're still on the hunt for a decent sectional for our living room.

In case anyone is wondering, Maisy is a mix of a poodle and this breed, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. Her fur is a lot more smooth than a poodle and we love it.

Snooping on Max doing projects.

The world of social media helped us pick our tile size based on my excellent diagrams. This bathroom still has yet to be tiled.

More Progress!

So many exciting science experiments have happened with this fan,

getting out in our yard in January to try to hack all the blackberry bushes before the spring...It didn't really work. Those things are Crazy!

Also, finally cleaning the fall leaves off the trampoline was the best 10 minutes of my time because then the boys spent hours a day out there all through the winter.

Why are you making me take a picture on this table.

Sometimes it seems like it gets messier before it gets better but some day we will have a tidy yard.

And then Covid hit us. Starting with Charlie The boys and I all had fevers for a day or two, and Max took care of us. Then he got Covid without the fever and we were all over it in a couple days.

I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to fevers. Walter ended up getting a raspy cough which was sad but it didn't seem to affect his sleep too bad.

We went out in any sunshine we had.

Reminder that this is January in Portland Oregon. It doesn't always rain.

We then started our human body science unit with some fun toys.

Walter's pretty great at leaving destruction in his path.

Helping Max thread wires through the walls.

Putting on his thinking cap.

These Shashibos are hours of fun. Awesome gifts from Grandma and Grandpa.

We had bowels on our wall for a good part of the year.

Appreciating big window and pink sunsets.

More sunshine.

Green Grandma's daffodils! Love when we get hope of a Spring coming soon.

Vertebrae with hard and gummy lifesavers.

January isn't so bad after all!

A casualty from our puppy.

Once we were all clear of the COVID we went out to a diner.

And played in more parks

And I felt proud and in awe that I have all these great boys

Moving on to the muscular system in our Human Body Unit

Nature school day.

I feel like I may need to remind the reader that this is January.

The ducks are a highlight for Edwin.

I just love how their nature school friendships have developed. It's been a huge reason I feel the strength to continue homeschooling.

Max got all the sheet rock up so I spent the nights painting while he was at work. It is so satisfying.

That was just the first coat of primer.

More January sunshine.

Maisy had her first haircut!

And she looked like a completely different dog.

I helped out in Edwins' preschool a bunch.

More painting and trim work.

On to the respiratory system. This is our lung model and it worked great.

Priming the drawers and cupboards for the main bathroom.

About to prime the framework

And then did the painting in the other bathroom

Goofs

The things my kids pick for bedtime stories. ha!

Puppy love

when I make clam chowder (not very often) I have to use all the burners. So it's photo worthy.

More snuggly puppy.

It's always exciting when a curriculum box arrives.

Baby's first haircut.

And we'll end January with this photo. Leveling the shower pan while I enjoyed the view!
