Independence Day

We had a little normalcy celebrating the 4th of July and even got to see some extended family. But first, we enjoyed a slow morning, and some cream of wheat. 

I think this was Miles' bowl.  

We also got to celebrate with a firework cookie kit made by my dear friend. They are always loads of fun for everyone. 

Max is quite meticulous when decorating cookies but then he is also usually the first to eat them too, haha!

Apparently, Charlie was missing during this activity? Not exactly sure where he was. 

There is sometimes extra frosting, so the decorating continues once the cookies are gone.

We then made our way to my aunt and uncles house for a BBQ, swim time, s'mores and fireworks. The water was too cold for me but Max braved it with the boys. 

And for some reason, my boys brought robes instead of coats. I guess it was cozy after a cold swim. They enjoyed the firework time and naturally fought over who was lighting the next firework. 

I think these are the only fireworks Edwin likes. 

Until a spark nearly got his toes. 

It was pretty majestical when the moon came out, however my phone didn't do it justice.

Last year I took this photo of Edwin. I didn't realize he was wearing the same shirt. And it's just funny that he really isn't a big fan of fireworks. 

 Anyway, this was probably our most normal holiday this year and we still took safety precautions and celebrated everything outdoors. This looks like it may be our most normal holiday for all of 2020 as Thanksgiving and Christmas are nearing and with a newborn and Covid, we will probably just be hanging out at home.

Dentist

Probably not a super significant event but still an interesting point in time. Up until this point I hadn't take all my boys anywhere indoors and I was super nervous to take them all to their dental checkup. It's nearly impossible to have them not touch anything. 

In retrospect, everything went well and no one got sick and there were no cavities. So  I guess that's a bunch of wins. The lame part was that they took Charlie into a room down the hall to clean his teeth and I couldn't watch all of my boys at the same time. When I went to check on Charlie, he was on the floor, launching stuff into the air with his mask. I mean, I was glad we were able to be done and out of there sooner but seeing your kid on the floor in a dental office in the middle of a pandemic is stressful. ha. Anyway, it's all good. 

 

June Review

Maybe June wasn't all that exciting for us, we still weren't leaving the house a ton but here are some phone photos that give a glimpse into our daily life.

Miles always wants me to take pictures of his projects. 

Power washing the deck was a big deal...then we ended up tearing it all up anyway. more on that in the coming months.

They decided they wanted to do water balloons on a not-so-warm day. 

It naturally ended in fights over the last couple of balloons, if they could save a couple balloons for later and boys being mad they were wet. I write this so I can remember to maybe hold off on the water balloons for awhile. 

Showing that I could still wear my stylish earrings from  Nehiyanahk Creations while wearing a mask when I went to a prenatal appointment. 

We picked up a bag of schoolwork for each of my boys from the school. I loved finding this one from Miles.

Sometimes they decide to snuggle together and usually it ends in noise and wrestling and they have to be separated, sometimes in ends in beautiful peaceful moments like this. 

On the last day of "School" or whatever we call that strange Spring of 2020. The teachers at the boys school had a car parade that went through all the neighborhoods. The boys picked their own art supplies and made signs. Charlie's is made with play dough and Miles used tape resist. 

We probably went too long without haircuts. 

We had to get a new infant carseat since our last one expired so we had to test it out and make sure it fit with our old stroller.

Finally set up the pool which provided hours of fun. 

I was having crazing cravings for Orange Julius, which I don't think I've made since high school. So we made it a fancy occasion. 

Why are they always extra cute when they're fresh out of the bath?

Many science experiments have been enjoyed with this fan. 

I like finding little set ups like this. I think Miles did this one and I found it on my bed. 

Sometimes when they play Harry Potter, they get a little crazy decorating themselves (and brothers) with lightning bolts. 

Eating outside means less crumbs and cleanup inside...but it also probably means more raccoons so maybe that's not a good thing. 

He's the best lemon juicer.

 And there you have our simple June, but I like the simplicity and I think it is so important to document these strange time and for our boys to be able to look back and see their creativity.
