At least half of our August was spent in Prineville with Max's parents and Brother's family. I will have a separate post for Grandpa George but in the meantime, here are some other day-to-day August events.
We still did some "school" during Summer. I didn't require backpacks, that was their own thing.
In August, I officially decided to homeschool my kids for the foreseeable future. No regrets so far. It has been the best thing for us right now.

Prineville is about 3 hours away from us and we drive over Mt. Hood. There is a little spot on the mountain that we happened to pull over and the boys fell in love with it.
It was this lovely grove of trees along a creek. They asked to pull over there for all consecutive drives.
We stopped a couple of times but it was on one side of the highway and we couldn't get there on our way home from Prineville
We inherited a pencil sharpener and then immediately burnt out the motor...so our little engineer tried to figure that out.
One day, while Max was still in Prineville, we went on a hike with some friends.
I got to go on a date with Charlie, he chose Red Lobster and wanted to try Squid and Octopus. They did have some Calamari so we tried squid. He's also a big fan of shrimp and crab so we had a blast and had lots of leftovers to bring home to the family (We wanted them all to try squid!)
Charlie is such a fun kid one-on-one. He is so incredibly social and he would greet every person that walked by us and start conversations with them.
Making them do more homework in Summer. I actually don't really make Edwin do much homework, he just asks to do it sometimes.
We pulled out the massage table one day and everyone got massages. If you can't tell, this is Miles giving Edwin a massage.
We sometimes have campfires, and sometimes our neighbors complain. whoops.
Edwin and I worked on a birthday gift for Max.
They built a fort in our living room and after awhile, I wanted my living room back so I sent them outside to build a tent.
They set up the tent and brought out books to read.
Sadly it rained over night and the books were left in the tent and somehow it flooded and damaged some of the books.
Edwin needed to take the wheelbarrow all the way to our mailbox.
Also, Edwin had to start patching his eye. He dislikes it and we forget to do it a lot of the time, but the doctor still said there was some progress. ha!
Charlie gathered all the hammocks we have and made a "hammock village" It's a pretty good way to spend a summer day, and I didn't even need to help him set them up!

Remembering how they spent all day outside is really making me miss summer.
The tomatoes were taking forever to grow this year so he was really excited to finally see some little green tomatoes starting to grow. We then realized he had tomatoes plants everywhere!! All over our yard and parking area. We think the chickens spread some seeds around.
Mean mom making them do some more summer homework. I had actually just printed off some of the curriculum samples that I wanted to use to see if it was a good fit and I wanted to have them try it out before I bought everything for the school year.
