Our Baby

We were happy to officially find out on Tuesday September 7 that we were expecting a baby. I was 5 weeks along and we were thrilled. Two days later I woke up with unexplanable bleeding and through a series of doctor/hospital visits over the weekend we learned that I miscarried.

5 Week old fetus

The Postitves:
~We got pregnant on our first month of trying! Apparently we are fertile which is something a girl can only wonder until she actually tries. For this reason alone I feel so grateful for this experience. Having a miscarriage this early only puts me back a month so hopefully we can still get pregnant in the next couple of months.

~This may sound weird but I wanted to experience a miscarriage sometime in my life. This doesn't mean that as soon as I got pregnant I was thinking "gee...I sure hope I miscarry" I just feel that it is an important and humbling life experience that I have seen happen to many of my family members and friends. With this experience under my belt I feel that I can have a greater capacity for compassion.
~We wont be having a baby right after finals.
~I can work out my abs more
~More childless time. Wild and free datenights for us
~The baby will not be due too close to our anniversary ( I don't want to share that day)

The negatives:
~We feel ready now.
~ My doctor said no lovin' for ten days.
~We have an extra bedroom now that needs to be filled with a baby
~I want to blame my chocolate cravings on the baby!

Anyway, As of now we are doing fine. We are excited to start our family in the near future but we have a wonderful small happy family now so life is good!

  1. It kinda sounds crazy but I felt the same way with my first pregnancy. I wanted to have a miscarriage at some point and I totally expected my first pregnancy to be the one I miscarried. The good news is even when you are pregnant you can and should work out your ab muscles. at least for the first six or seven months. It will help with the recovery processes and as long as you fell good working out your abs you should do it.

  2. I think your little baby is holding my little baby's hand in heaven counting to three and then coming to earth at the same time. Thanks for letting your little one wait a little longer for our little one.

  3. I didn't realize you could work out your abs until my sister in law went to a personal fitness trainer specializing in Pregnancy fitness and made her to a huge ab work out when she was 2 months pregnant. The Personal Trainer was the one that told her she she work out her abs until six or seven months.

  4. I went to the gym up til about 2 weeks before Lexi was born. I'm a firm believer that it was because of this labor, delivery, and recovery were so easy for me. Also, it takes a little while for all the hormones to leaver your body, so feel free to eat chocolate and blame the baby! ;) I am so sorry for your loss, but also very proud of you and your strength. I love you guys!
