Dance with Me!

We finally had our long awaited first private dance lesson. Max had been planning this for a surprise date back in August for us. I accidentally found out what it was. And then shortly after that we had to reschedule because the dance studio was changing locations and the remodel of the new studio was not finished. Anyway, we were incredibly excited and super grateful to finally go dancing. We dropped off our boys with Richard and Marissa then headed over to go dancing. We had planned on going out to eat but with Max's work schedule and traffic it didn't work so we chowed down through some Panda express in the car.. haha really romantic..ha!

So then we got to the studio and started our first private lesson in the grand and brand new ballroom. We learned some basic steps to the fox trot and 4-count swing. We took a ballroom dance class when we were at BYU but that was six years ago so we were a little rusty.

After a private lesson we got another lesson in a small group. In there we learned the Tango and Cha cha. We had to switch partners which was somewhat awkward for me but it was also beneficial since the other dancers had been dancing a lot longer than us.

And then after our group lesson, the studio was hosting a little mixer party in the big ballroom where they play a song and call out a style of dance and you switch partners each dance. It was weird at first since some of the styles were unfamiliar but most of the people there knew what they were doing so I just had to be a good follower. Max had a trickier time since he was supposed to lead but wasn't super confident in his ability. There were only about 15 people there, it ended up being pretty neat since I was able to dance with some of the instructors and the owner of the studio who was a professional dancer .Before we left, we had someone take this great blurry photo!

After dancing we went and got some frozen yogurt to end our date night. It always feels good to dress up, brush my hair and get out on a date without the kids. And it is always fun to learn something new together!

  2. Looks like fun. James and I took salsa classes together when we first started dating. That's what it took to win my heart. Still some of my favorite dating memories.
