Max and I had to explore new running routes near our house since we finally have neighbors living behind us and we can't run through their yard anymore, actually they probably wouldn't care but we don't really want to. I heard there was a nature trail nearby that eventually led to our favorite "park with the green swing" (Charlie's title) We haven't explored it yet because you do have to go for a short distance on a somewhat busy roads with no sidewalks and very small shoulders. One day Max and I decided to check it out (separately but on the same day, so one of us could stay home with the kids) Also, this makes it sound like we go running all the time and we don't haha. just wanted to clarify that. We realized we had a mud run coming up so we should probably try to run a bit before the event. More on that later. After I ran it, I thought it would be a fun place to take Charlie. He is always wanting to run and start races so I thought it would be good to give him a little challenge with the reward of a park day (exercise, one-on-one time, and the playground. it was a win-win-win)
It ended up being perfect.
We did have to take some breaks
But most of the time he was so fast.
And we made it to our final destination where we were the only ones at the park and we had so much fun climbing and playing.
And found snails!
We explored a new part of the creek and Charlie kept giggling and yelling "This is so Awesome!!" It made me happy to see him so happy!
We had to go up a bunch of hills on the way back, when Charlie got tired he would grab on to a leaf and to get "powered up!" He would then be able to do another stretch of running.
We made it home and he was still running all the way to the front door. We plan to go again and also, Max plans to take him. It was the perfect little mother son date!
This post makes me so happy. I can't wait to hear about your mud run. That sounds so fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the leaves helping him to power up. haha! And I love how much he loves to just explore and be in nature. You're doing a good job!
