Spontaneous Beach trip

November 2021

I'm not exactly sure why I felt so brave but Elizabeth somehow talked me into taking all my boys and puppy down to visit them, then have a beach day. I've been craving a beach day and I've taken all my boys to the beach on my own multiple times, but never by myself with the puppy and not with all the extra driving. But we knew we needed a beach day before Winter started.

And wow, Elizabeths kids were so helpful with my kids and with taking care of the puppy.

I couldn't have done it without them. Especially getting the dog to settle down at night in a new place.

My boys were thrilled and always have so much fun with their cousins.

Edgar and Walter had a lot of fun together.

We had a movie night and watched an American Tale which i grew up watching and my boys had never seen it.
I realized I packed two different flip flops.

Anyway, it was a rough night of sleep with Walter waking up and I'm just a poor sleeper in new places so I wasn't sure if I wanted to drive all the way to the beach then back home to my house the next day. (About 6 hours total in the car)
But once I got up every one was excited for a beach day and I don't think I've ever regretted a beach day so we did it anyway.
Anyway, it ended up being an absolutely beautiful November day. Gwenevere went on full doggy daycare mode and took care of Maisy pretty much the whole time. It was so helpful.

The beach was very empty since it was a weekday in November so I was able to let Maisy off leash a bit too which was nice.

I'm also realizing this blog post has been more about my dog than anything else...anyway...moving on...

Walter was walking but he didn't feel super confident walking in the sand yet but he had already mostly sworn off crawling so he did a good job just staying with me.

These photos loaded all out of order again but we had so much fun. The kids sledded down some dunes, played in the waves, had hours of imaginary play and just had fun.

These girls don't mess around when playing fetch

Gwenevere actually did a bunch of training with Maisy at the beach which was super helpful.

A bi-plane came by super close so that was fun to see.

Anyway, once the sun was nearly down we decided to call it a day. Everyone had so much fun. Before the long drive back Elizabeth treated us to some ice cream.

Where's my ice cream?

we survived the drive even though Walter cried for a lot of it but we were so glad we went!!

And here is the puppy passed out on our floor when we got back...actually the sub floor, thank goodness we have real floors now.
