December 2021 photo dump

And here is December 2021. Walter's 1st Birthday and Christmas are separate posts but here are some of the other fun things we did in December.

Max tediously worked to make a deck frame that was sturdy and level.

We had a handful of park days and nature school days.

I got my hair done. And also bought a whole lot of shampoo and conditioner at the salon and later realized I didn't love it.

Edwin picked up his glasses...while wearing Spiderman pajamas.

We picked out a tree at Wilco. I've decided I want to dedicate a portion of our yard to growing about 10 Christmas trees...because they are getting so incredibly expensive.

We finally had the space to get a bigger tree but didn't want to spend the money.

More deck work. He's constantly prancing around on these rafters with perfect balance. It's a little stressful to watch.

Eating a wiseman

Maisy had a bath

Among our many projects, we gutted the small master bathroom and our toilet sat out on the front porch for a couple days, and Amazon kindly delivered a package to our toilet.

We went on a walk and Maisy got tired.

Walter helping with projects...

...and homework.

Our friends hosted their annual minute to win it and ornament exchange party, after a 2 year hiatus. Actually maybe longer because they had moved away for awhile. Anyway it was back and so much fun and somehow this is the only picture I have, Walter stealing macaroni off his brother's plate.

Miles moving along with his Math.

Walter runs off with our homeschool cart. I like this better than when he just starts taking things off the cart and throwing them on the floor.

Helpful baby.

Doctor checkups.

Waking up his biggest brother.

More park time.

See those gnomes, my friend Debbie made them a couple years ago so we didn't have one for Walter. We wanted to ask if she still had the materials or instructions to make another one but we never did because we knew it was a busy time of year. But one day, Debbie just showed up on our doorstep and brought us a little gnome for Walter.

Apparently Max brought Strawberry Shortcake home from the store one day

I caught Charlie doing his math when it was nearly midnight.

He then finished that Math book and didn't have to do any more until after the New Year.

Gingerbread house day at the preschool was a good time.

Another park day while it was getting dark.

It really doesn't rain all winter like everyone thinks. We have some great days and the weather usually stays above freezing. I've just been appreciating that we can enjoy parks year round and not have to deal with snow and freezing temperatures.

The Saturday before Christmas we had the Wilcox family Christmas party at my Aunt Cindy's house. Max wasn't able to come as he had just gotten off a night shift but we had lots of fun and enjoyed lots of good food.

The old gross linoleum was finally torn up, and it didn't look much better.

And we had to move pretty much everything into the living room.

Walter unwrapping gifts early.

Edwin's preschool gift.

While the heat padding and floors were being installed at our house, the kids and dog needed to get out of the house. So we went to the local elementary school playground where it was fenced in and we could let the kids and dog run wild. (It was winter break so no kids were there and no one else was as crazy as us to go play there in the rain.) We played and rode bikes for a couple hours.

After awhile we were getting really wet and cold so I decided to take the boys to a diner.

It was a big hit because we don't go out to eat very often.

Thankfully the flooring was being installed rather quickly. Max and I had prepped by already putting these mats down and then the heat pads, so we will eventually have heated floors. (Floors are in but wires are not connected for the heat yet.)

We had hired some workers to do the actual plank installation and they did such good work.

We are still so happy with how it turned out!

With the floors all placed we could finally install the fridge that we bought 6 months earlier.

Maisy approved!

Walter approved too!

Then a couple days later it was Christmas, which is in a previous post. The day after Christmas was snowy. SO that was fun. We got to play in it with the neighbors.

We also found these really cool old sleds in the attic, so we had fun with that on our tiny bit of snow.

Of course we came in for hot cocoa. Can you guys which animal belongs to which kid? I kinda had to guess for Walter.

Working with daddy

The boys slept by the tree shortly after Christmas

Walter enjoyed waking them all up!

Puppy love

As Max was trying to replace the floor, the joists needed to be leveled. He didn't fix it all with glue it was just funny that I saw him gluing our house together.

Also the floor opened up to the workshop in the basement so we almost always had that door closed while we were working on the bathroom.

Bedtime shenanigans

Mopping the carpet.

Rockstar!

I was excited to clean up the tree and vacuum all the pine needles.

Library days

On New Years Eve we went to My Grandma's house and made gingerbread cookies. We still didn't have an oven and it was fun spending time with Grandma)

Max worked New Years Eve (nights...so actually as the new year was starting)  Boys all swarmed him with hugs as he left and told him they see him next year.

Charlie was still up at midnight so we facetimed Max at work at midnight.

And that brings my blog to the end of 2021!
