A wedding, camping, a cave and a waterfall.

 August 2021

As you may know, our summer was filled with cleaning and fixing up our house so at one point, we packed a lot of fun into one over night trip.

It all started with Max's cousin, Danika getting married. She and her now husband, Paul, have been together for a quite a while and it was fun to go celebrate their marriage. They held the ceremony at a beautiful location that had availability for visiting family and friends to camp so we took advantage of that since we hadn't been able to camp much.

We arrived before the reception to pick a spot and set up our tent, then made our way to the beautiful outdoor reception.

They asked that no one except the photographer take photos during the ceremony so here is a photo from Danika's facebook. It was a beautiful ceremony.

We took lots of photos of ourselves while we waited for the ceremony to start.

Walter matched the groomsmen, Max's cousins Justin and Jordan.

After the ceremony, it was party time (getting out Sprite...😉)

It was a beautiful setting and location and there was a delicious dinner and a fun kids table. I'm just now realizing it doesn't look like my kids are having fun.

We were dancing hard and he wanted to go to a different part of the forest but I wouldn't let him because it was getting dark and many people were getting more inebriated. He was mad.

Danced him to sleep.

We turned in earlier than a lot of the wedding guests which was probably a good idea. It sounded like things got a little wild but we got cozy in our tent a good distance from the party. Thankfully we were all able to sleep decently and woke up and packed up.

Once we were all packed up we made our way to the Ape Caves, near Mount St. Helens. We had to go at an allotted time due to Covid and we got there a bit early so we took a little hike in the nearby forest.

Also, snack time

I wasn't sure what to expect with the caves or if my kids would be terrified but we all loved it!! Everyone had their own flashlight and we stayed together and enjoyed exploring the cave.

A couple times, when no one was around. We stood together and each turned off our lights to feel what complete blackness was like. Then we turned on one light at a time to see how each persons light made the cave brighter. they wanted to do it over and over again and always be the first one to turn on their flashlight again.

Coming to the exit.

When we got back to the car we started driving to another nearby gem, that my sister in law told me about. Lower Lewis Falls. This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go back. We didn't know how deep the water was so we got all set up in our life jackets.

We hiked down to the waterfall and there were some great vantage points along the way.

We found lots of tadpoles

It was a bit treacherous crossing the river. Not super deep but very slippery and I had my camera. ha!

It was just beautiful and perfect and we could have stayed a lot longer but needed to start the drive home. so we did that and stopped my my mom's house for dinner.

We were so glad that Danika got married in such a beautiful location and we were able to explore so much!
